Probably an all-time favourite. Photographed on an early digital camera in 2000. Just 1.2 megapixel. Met this maskmaker at her shop in Venice. Arranged to return later in the day once the sun was lower and more flattering. On returning, I simply asked her to pose with her favourite mask. Three photos were taken in available light. Two featured a passing gondola, but I've come to prefer the empty canal. The whole exercise was over in a couple of minutes proving you don't need a lot of preparation or setup for powerful images. Just common sense with light, and a willingness to get close.
